Where it comes from
Bio Kamari works with two Amazonian resins: dragon's blood and copaiba oleoresin. This page explains where they come from, how they reach us and what documentation we can share. It is the information we usually send before a first quote.
What these resins are
Dragon's blood is a plant latex that flows from the trunk of the Croton lechleri tree, family Euphorbiaceae, native to the Peruvian Amazon.
Copaiba oleoresin comes from the copaiba tree, genus Copaifera, family Fabaceae, a wild-growing Amazonian species. It is commonly traded as copaiba oil, though botanically it is an oleoresin.
Both form part of the traditional knowledge passed down by Amazonian communities.
How they are gathered
Dragon's blood is gathered from the standing tree, through practices intended to preserve the natural balance of the forest.
Copaiba oleoresin is drawn using a controlled technique that lets the tree carry on growing.
Gathering takes place in the territories of Amazonian communities and associations. The raw material reaches Bio Kamari through local collectors, who bring together production from several communities.

Bio Kamari is formally registered in Ucayali and identifies as an Ucayali company. Formulation and bottling of the cosmetics line take place in Miraflores, Lima.

What we do not claim
We would rather say this up front:
- The harvesting permit belongs to the source community, not to us. We hold the document that certifies it and we share it on request.
- We hold no organic, fair-trade or equivalent certification, and no batch-level traceability: we buy from local collectors who gather production from several communities.
- There are no written contracts with the associations and no committed volumes. Sourcing is made to order against a deposit.
- Export paperwork is arranged per shipment.
